Leslie Davis’ second grade STEAM class at Connetquot Elementary School recently studied earth science and engineering. They began learning about the different bodies of water and landforms that are found on earth. The students created physical models using Play-Doh and learned about erosion’s fast and slow changes that can happen to the earth’s surface. The unit concluded with the second graders designing and engineering dams to block and redirect water that would otherwise change the shape of the land. 

“All the students had fun and worked hard,” Davis said. “There were many successful designs.”
