EI Wears Orange to Promote Kindness on Unity Day

  • All four of East Islip’s elementary schools celebrated Unity Day by wearing orange on Oct. 18 to help promote kindness, acceptance and inclusion. The annual event is a highlight of National Bullying Prevention Month, an awareness campaign founded by PACER's National Bullying Prevention Center in 2006.

At RCK, a Unity tree was created by Cathy Firneno, Kyle George and Lisa Kroll, with all students joining in to make the leaves. For Connetquot’s and Timber Point’s buildingwide Unity projects with school counselor Katie Scuderi, students wrote how they can keep the school a kind place, and combined the messages to spell out Unity.
