Rain Couldn¡¯t Dampen East Islip¡¯s Exciting Ñî¹óåú´«Ã½coming Festivities

  • The East Islip school community happily ignored the rain on the dreary morning of Oct. 21, donning raincoats and brandishing umbrellas to march proudly in the second annual Main Street homecoming parade alongside local fire departments.

“Rain or shine, the homecoming parade was an absolute blast,” Superintendent Paul Manzo said. “Mother Nature tried to dampen the festivities, but she couldn’t stop the incredible energy and excitement that filled the streets. To everyone who participated in the parade and made it a day to remember, your dedication, creativity and positive spirit were truly inspiring.”

The afternoon’s homecoming football game was equally exciting for fans clad in red and white, with East Islip High School’s team firing on all cylinders and crushing Harborfields by a score of 41-7. Quarterback Thomas Costarelli had a big day, throwing two touchdown passes, both to Matt Ferraro, and scoring a rushing touchdown. Andrew Cooper racked up 101 yards and scored two rushing TDs, while Sebastian Regis and Jaden Schmidt both had two sacks.

During halftime, the crowd was treated to spirited performances by cheerleaders and kickline, and homecoming king and queen Wyatt Weichbrodt and Alyssa Deutsch were announced. The royal pair celebrated alongside the other seniors of the homecoming court – Chris Kazarian, Summer Kristensen Cassidy McConnell, and Lucian Ponciolo. Other homecoming royalty included freshmen Jake Ingrassia and Eva Sassone, sophomores Michael Collina and Nicole Guriba, and juniors Jayden Freed and Romeo Soriano.
