First graders at Connetquot Elementary School recently participated in a “break out” event with library media specialist Jodi Flynn. After reading Marjorie Sharmat’s “Nate the Great and the Mushy Valentine,” the students became detectives and followed the clues that took them all around the school library in an effort to solve the mystery of the locked box. Teamwork prevailed and they were able to open the box in the nick of time and earn their prizes.
