East Islip to Send 50 Musicians to SCMEA All-County Festival
-
Reflecting the district’s strong music education programming and support provided by teachers, 50 East Islip student-musicians from East Islip High School, East Islip Middle School, John F. Kennedy Elementary School and Ruth C. Kinney Elementary School were recently chosen for the Suffolk County Music Educators’ Association All-County Festival. These students will rehearse with the respective SCMEA ensembles in early March. On March 10, fifth and sixth graders will perform at the SCMEA Central Division I concert at East Islip High School. On that same date, seventh and eighth graders will perform at the SCMEA West Division II concert, and ninth and 10th graders will perform at the SCMEA West Division III concert, both at Huntington High School.
“We are delighted to congratulate our hardworking musicians that have been accepted into SCMEA,” Director of Art and Music Dr. Rob Wottawa said. “This year we have 50 student acceptances, and we attribute that fact to our amazing music teachers who are committed to our young musicians. I am honored that we can send so many students to SCMEA. It is absolutely amazing!”
