Eleven Excellent East Islip Student-Musicians Chosen for LISFA Festival

  • Eleven excellent East Islip student-musicians were recently chosen to attend the Long Island String Festival Association’s annual ensemble festival alongside the other top orchestra students from Suffolk County. During the LISFA weekend, the students participate in two rehearsals and a concert performance.

    Selected from East Islip were Ruth C. Kinney Elementary School fifth grader Victoria Lamonica (violin); East Islip Middle School sixth graders Lucas Massa (bass) and Taegan Tantillo (violin) and eighth graders Madelyn Halter (violin) and Hailey Messina (viola); East Islip High School freshman Zeynep Oztas (violin), sophomore Olivia Quintero (viola), juniors Kevin Huang (violin) and Richie LaSpina (violin), and seniors George Jin (violin) and Keira Tantillo (violin).

    “We are so very proud of the accomplishments of our string students under the guidance of our orchestra teachers,” said Dr. Rob Wottawa, East Islip’s director of art and music. “LISFA participation is a high honor, and our students are so very deserving of this amazing opportunity.”
