East Islip Photographers Chosen for NYSATA Exhibition

  • East Islip High School photography students Emily Graziano and TessaRose Orgera were selected for exhibition in the 33rd annual New York State Art Teachers Association Legislative Student Art Exhibition, co-sponsored by New York State United Teachers.

The Legislative Student Art Exhibition has been the Youth Art Month flagship event since 1990. Held in the Legislative Office Building in Albany each spring, it serves as NYSATA’s largest public display of student artwork in a government building.

Due to complications with scheduling, this year’s exhibit is 100% virtual, and  a Google slideshow of student artwork is available for viewing through December 2023 at nysata.memberclicks.net/legislative-exhibit.

“I am so proud of their work this year in photography,” teacher Heather Toomey said. “Emily and TessaRose are extremely hardworking photography students and are creative. They have excelled in photography this year and I was honored to select them for this exhibition.”

“I struggled with taking photos of the moon, and I was finally able to get accomplish the perfect photograph,” Orgera said. “I am honored that my photograph was chosen for this exhibit.”

“Thank you to Mrs. Toomey for the opportunity and for selecting me for this exhibit,” Graziano said. “I really like to take photographs of nature and learning how to edit in Photoshop.”
