East Islip Bowlers Help Suffolk All-Stars Capture State Title

  • The Section XI boys All-Star team recently captured the New York State championship for 2024. The team consisted of the top six bowlers in Suffolk County, including East Islip High School’s Andrew Jacobsen and Matthew Sundberg. They had an extraordinary total pin fall of 6,801 over the six games, an average of 1,133 pins per game in a tournament, on a sport shot pattern. Jacobsen finished 17th in the state, with an average of 214.8 on the day, and Matthew finished 20th, with an average of 211.6. Sundberg also notched the fifth highest game of the tournament, shooting 269.
       
    “Andrew and Matthew represented us so well,” East Islip coach Judith Fischer said. “They really do exemplify EI Pride. Coach D’Ambrosio and I are very proud of the work these two bowlers put in every day throughout the season, and are looking forward to 2024-2025 with them and the rest of the East Islip boys.”
