East Islip High School’s wrestling put on a terrific performance at the Suffolk County High School Division 1 individual wrestling championships, held Feb. 10-11 at Stony Brook University’s Island Federal Arena, with senior Anthony Avitabile named Suffolk County champion at 145 pounds. The Redmen finished fifth overall in Suffolk County, with four wrestlers earning All-County honors Christopher Coleman (170 pounds) and Nick Groneman (190 pounds) both placed fourth overall, while Rocco Destefano (101 pounds) finished in 3rd overall. Avitabile and Destefano both qualified for the New York State Championships, to be held Feb. 23-24 at the MVP Arena in Albany.
