• 9/30/19 A Classic Ñî¹óåú´«Ã½coming

    The traditional homecoming parade returned to East Islip on Sept. 28 to the delight of the community, with students, staff, families and friends proudly marching from RCK to the freshly renovated Sal Ciampi Field at Boomer Esiason Stadium.

    From the first possession, the varsity football team took control of the game against Kings Park. By halftime, East Islip had pulled out to a 49-7 lead over the Kingsmen and the thrilled crowd were ready for some entertainment, courtesy of the high school’s band and cheerleaders.

    Neel Patel and Danielle Heller were crowned 2019 homecoming king and queen. The homecoming court was rounded out by freshman representatives Muhammad Abdullah and Neoma LoCimple; sophomore representatives Livia Nedd and Gerson Tamayo; junior representatives Enzo Ditta and Ryann Youngberg; senior class nominees Anthony Carroll, Mia Catalonotto, Jenna Golini, Leah Neville, Dylan Rigo and Alexander Zimmer.

    After pulling the entire starting offense before the third quarter began, the undefeated Redmen went on to earn a lopsided 63-14 victory, capping a classic homecoming day.

     


  • 9/30/19 New High Schoolers Enjoy Meet and Greet

    For the past three years, counselor Jennifer Salvaggio has hosted a meet and greet event for students who have just arrived in East Islip and are now attending the high school. This year, almost 30 new students participated, enjoying activities and pizza while getting introduced to the other students and learning about the school from counselors.

  • 9/27/19 Fun Games Added to Pep Rally

    The high school added a new wrinkle to its annual pep rally this year, interspersing amusing party games like musical chairs and egg-and-spoon races to the traditional celebration of athletics and student pride. All of the school’s sports teams were introduced during the Sept. 27 event, which also featured exciting performances by the gymnastics and cheerleading teams, and rousing music from the high school pep band, directed by Christopher Neske.

  • 9/25/19 FTK Carnival Ushers in Autumn

    The 23rd annual FTK Carnival ushered in autumn for East Islip on Sept. 20, the beginning of the entertaining three-day event on the grounds of Timber Point, filled with rides and games for the district’s families. The opening ceremony featured a memorable performance by string musicians from Ñî¹óåú´«Ã½ and RCK.


  • 9/20/19 An Exciting Honor Society Kickoff

    The high school’s National Foreign Language Honor Society recently held its first general meeting of the school year, with 130 out of 193 club members in attendance. This marks the largest ever group of student members for East Islip’s NFLHS. During the meeting, students and co-advisers Giuseppe Costa and Betty Muller discussed additions to Foreign Language Week schedule as well as scholarship fundraiser ideas including an open mic night where teachers and students could perform together and share their talents to build community.

    “We are very excited to be able to have such a large group this year and look forward to an amazing year with all of the students at East Islip High School,” said Muller.

  • 9/12/19 A Patriotic Day at Timber Point

    Dressed in red, white and blue, students at Timber Point celebrated Patriot Day on Sept. 11 with a flag parade around the gym. In the classroom, students learned about the flag, heroes in the community and various patriotic symbols, and created class and individual flags.

  • 9/10/19 Students Return Ready to Learn

    East Islip’s students were eager to meet their new teachers and classmates on Sept. 5 as the first day of school dawned at each of the six buildings. Students shared memories of their vacations and quickly engaged in the multiple activities that their teachers had planned, ready to learn and grow.

    “It was an amazing first day of school at Timber Point,” said Principal Danielle Naccarato. “Everywhere you looked there were smiling happy faces ready to learn. It’s going to be a terrific school year.”

    “It was fabulous to see and feel the tremendous amount of excitement that comes on the first day of a school year,” said Ñî¹óåú´«Ã½ Principal Deborah Smith. “The first day signifies new beginnings and adventures and the entire staff welcomed our returning students and those new to Ñî¹óåú´«Ã½. We look forward to so many new learning experiences together.”

     


  • 9/3/19 Getting Oriented at EIHS

    Incoming freshmen streamed into the high school on Aug. 29 for an informational orientation session, including explanation of the differences between middle school and high school, the bell schedule, and elective and diploma options. The new ninth graders also toured the building and set up their lockers.
