  • 2020 Grad Dylan Rigo Wins Scholarship

High school Class of 2020 graduate Dylan Rigo was recently awarded the John Gagliano Memorial Scholarship due to his outstanding academic and athletic achievements and exemplary service to the East Islip Youth Football League organization. Rigo, an All-County running back/linebacker, served as East Islip’s team captain and earned a county championship in 2016.

On Aug. 10, just a few days before leaving to attend Utica College, Rigo was visited by EIYFL directors Tom Costarelli and Henry Nunez, who presented him with the scholarship certificate.

“Throughout his entire football career, Dylan has always made our East Islip community proud of both his success in the classroom as well as on the football field,” Costarelli and Nunez said. “Most importantly, he has always returned to his East Islip Youth Football roots to help out. We wish Dylan all the best as he embarks on the next chapter in his college football career.”

  • USDA Information About Free Meals

The United States Department of Agriculture has extended the ability for school districts to offer free meals to children 18 years of age and younger residing in the district. This extension applies to all students, regardless the manner of instruction being delivered (in-person, remote or hybrid) and lasts until 12/31/2020 to the extent that federal and state funding allows. The district is serving meals both in the school cafeterias, as well as from the west entrance of the high school for those children not in attendance on any given school day.

  • 2020-2021 Interscholastic Informational Meeting Q&A

Dear East Islip Parent/Guardian of Student-Athletes,

As you may have seen in a press release on 9/11/20, Section XI will be postponing interscholastic athletics until January 4, 2021. This difficult decision was one that was deliberated at great length and with the best interest of all the student-athletes, coaches and officials of Suffolk County in mind. To answer any questions that you or your child may have, I will be hosting a virtual meeting for parents and students in grades 7-12 regarding athletics for the 20/21 school year on Wednesday 9/16/20 at 5pm. The link to the meeting can be found below. Thank you and I look forward to our virtual meeting on Wednesday, September 16 beginning at 5pm.

    Sincerely,
    Stephen Restivo
Director of Health, Physical Education and Athletics

"Our elementary students had a stellar first day," said RCK Principal Janet Jones. "They handled themselves like pros in this new environment. It was an amazing first day, setting the stage for an outstanding year."

“It was wonderful to hear the happiness in the students’ voices as the entire staff welcomed the children back,” said Ñî¹óåú´«Ã½ Principal Deborah Smith. “There were reunions between teachers and students and much excitement as we met the incoming third graders. Although this year brings several changes in our practices, we will work together to create meaningful learning experiences.
