Welcome Back Letter from the Principal

    Greetings RCK Families,

    I hope this letter finds you and your family enjoying a happy, healthy summer. The faculty and staff at RCK have been working diligently to prepare for your child’s arrival in the new school year. We are looking forward to welcoming our incoming third grade students. In addition, we are excited to continue to work with our fourth and fifth grade children to provide all students with educational experiences that are both meaningful and engaging. The following information will be helpful to you in preparing for the opening of school:

    School Begins:
    Wednesday, September 6, 2023

    Schedule:
    Arrival: 8:57 a.m.   Classes Begin: 9:12 a.m.
    Dismissal: 3:12 p.m.

    Transportation:
    For the first several weeks of school, the children should be at their bus stop at least one-half hour before school begins.

    Dismissal:
    Please complete the orange dismissal routine form and send it in with your child on the first day of school.

    Food Services:
    The first day of school will be a full day session. All students should bring lunch to school or be prepared to order lunch in the cafeteria for $2.30. Breakfast is available at 8:30 a.m. for .75 cents. East Islip School District is cashless, no cash will be accepted.

    BOE Policy:
    Ñî¹óåú´«Ã½ baked goods and other foods prepared at home can only be used for individual consumption. Food will not be brought in for birthdays and celebrations. A summary of our allergy policy has been included for your convenience. In addition, please visit the website for the Superintendent’s Wellness and Allergy Policy Update.

    Proper Attire:
    As outlined in the East Islip School District Code of Conduct, please note that hats and head coverings are not permitted to be worn except for medical or religious reasons.

    Supplies:
    For your convenience, copies of grade level supply lists are available on-line at the RCK website.

    Additional Forms:
    Please visit http://www.eischools.org. Select Ruth C. Kinney Elementary School under "Our Schools" or "Select your School", then select Resources, for committee forms and additional information.

    As a reminder, all visitors must show their photo ID before entering the building and sign in at the front desk upon entering the building. This procedure is for all visitors, including early dismissal, nurse visit or dropping off items for a student, teacher, main office, etc. Thank you for your cooperation and support with this important matter.

    To ensure the safety and welfare of all students, please remember to take special care at arrival and dismissal times. The circular driveway in the front is reserved for school buses only. Please note, the side parking lot cannot be used for drop-offs and pick-ups.

    Meet the Teacher Night will be held on Tuesday evening, September 19, 2023. You will be receiving further information shortly regarding times as each grade is scheduled to begin at a different time.

    All Grades 1 – 5 parents are invited to log on to the Account on August 28th after 3:00 p.m. to view your child’s classroom teacher for the 2023-2024 school year. This placement is a result of considerable thought and attention. Each decision was based on careful reflection and deliberation regarding class combinations, and the best placement for each child.
