• Solar Eclipse Safety

    1. There are certain inherent risks, dangers, and hazards, known or unknown, associated with viewing the Sun directly and/or the Solar Eclipse on April 8, 2024, including but not limited to permanent eye damage and other bodily injuries.

    2. Students are not required to participate in viewing the Solar Eclipse on April 8, 2024.

    3. Solar glasses, only ISO 12312-2 certified or those approved by the American Astronomical Society, must be worn at all times while viewing the Solar Eclipse on April 8, 2024. For more information, please visit AAS.erg

    4. Adult supervision is required to ensure the solar glasses are used properly. Please remind your child that the solar glasses must remain in their book bag until they arrive home.

    5. Never look at the Sun without solar glasses, as permanent eye damage may occur. Regular sunglasses are not a safe alternative.

    6. Never view the sun through a telescope, binoculars, or camera without appropriate solar filters.

    7. Dispose of and do not use your solar glasses if they are scratched, torn, punctured, or otherwise damaged.
